Me and Luke decided to use intertextual references of songs and albums by artist we liked, we eventually came to the decision of 'Magic Bus' as it contained many psychedelic qualities
Options that we chose from:
End Over End (Song by Foo Fighters)
Valleys Of Neptune (Unreleased album by Jimi Hendrix)
Here is the 1st edit of my first music video shoot consisting of the first 1 minute of the video. It is still unfinished and still needs edits to the contrast, cutting and timing of the video, it is just to illustrate the path that we are enhancing briefly giving a flavour to what my music video will be like hence the poor picture quality and cuts.
Mine and Luke's plan was to make a music video but also use the basis of a story also which is not unusual in music videos. The availability of making a music video and film trailer was a good way of collaborating these two together in order to cretae a message and story behind the subject of drugs.
The plot of the music video will consist around a main protagonist who is struggling with his addiction with drugs. The opening shot will be a birds-eye-view shot of the protagonist as the day starts and follows his daily routine with the constant mistreatment of cocaine. The music video is not in anyway inferring a positive view on cocaine as of conventional rock videos but simply highlighting the darker side to drugs. This will be illustarted by the use of dark, harsh tones of shade to really highlight a connote the dark side of illegal drugs.
The band will feature in the music video as part of the background but not as the main protagonis's concious. A similer use of this can be seen in the Foo Fighters - My Hero video as it follows the main protagonist tackling a certain dilemma
As this follows the day of the protagonist, the music video will include many tracking shots to convey the movemnt of the person to the audience. A shaky tracking shot will highlight the characters frame of mind and with certain edits to the shot, the colour and tone of the shot will convey to the audience his thoughts and effect of cocaine.
The bathroom scene which will consist of a mid shot-reflection from the mirror will also highlight the characters frame of mind also prior to the intake in the cocaine but is not specificly detailed, it is left for the audience to corroberate the reasons to the charachters depression. It could suggest insomnia, lonliness, a close death, iscolation. The band will feature on such media appliances such as the television in the bedroom and the computer to emphasise that the band appear to be non-diagetic throughout the music video.
